Essential Oils For Aromatherapy – Treating Insomnia

Most of the people that develop insomnia are because of stress that causes mental illness.  In addition, wrong use of medine will also cause insomnia.  Aromatherapy can help to calm, soothe, and relax, which is extremely useful for people with insomnia.  It is defintely worthwhile to try.

Essential oils recommendation:

  1. Chamomile
  2. Lavender
  3. Maroram
  4. Petitgrain
  5. Rose
  6. Sandalwood
  7. Ylang-Ylang
  8. Neroli
  9. Rosewood
  10. Melissa
  11. Mandarin
  12. Geraium
  13. Clary sage

How to use:

  1. Apply essential oils on napkin as it is convenient to use. Leave the napkin beside pillow during sleep will help sleep quality.  This is one of the easiest aromatherapy methods.
  2. Use candle as burner for aromatherapy pot.   On top of the pot, fill up warm water with essential oils; heat the water from bottom.
  3. Put hot water into container and apply few drops of essential oils.  Then, use towel to cover head above the container.  Close the eyes and inhale repeatedly.  Steam helps to open up pores and at the same time essential oils can go into skin smoothly.
  4. Take a warm bath with essential oils.  It helps to relax and soul.  Recommend to try it before sleep.
  5. Take time out to do whole body massage.  If time is limited, try out massaging palms and soles. 

Recipe:

  1. To be used with warm bath:  2 drops of Chamomile + 2 drops of Mandarin + 1 drop of Clary sage – take this bath before sleep to improve sleep quality.
  2. To be used with aromatherapy pot:  2 drops of Lavender + 2 drops of Neroli + 1 drop of Clary sage
  3. To be used on massage:  3 drops of Chamomile + 2 drops of Rose + 2 drops of Melissa

Prolonged insomnia can be very harmful to health.  Aromatherapy is known to be effective way to treat insomnia.  More importantly, try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and relax body and soul whenever possible.
